RELAXING IN THE MIDST OF BATTLES

RELAXING IN THE MIDST OF BATTLES
Joshua 13: 1-7

By Revd. Dr. J.A Aworinde

JOSHUA
-He was a follower of Yahweh, the almighty God with a difference.
-He was personal assistant to Moses, very honest, humble, clean, reliable and hardworking. Are you honest, are you dependable?
-He was a man of commitment.  Are committed to Jesus?
-He was a man of age and highly experienced.

*How do you handle the Lord's business?

*Anyone who relaxes in the midst of battles may become:
-An object of attack.
-A casualty.
-A victim.
-An abandoned object.

-Until one has finished the assignment given to him to the letter one becomes a looser.

ONE MAY FEEL LIKE RELAXING, IN BATTLE OR EVEN CALLING IT QUIT
1. When one is in enormous and challenging situation
2. When one feels that he has done enough

-Are you a good example like Joshua?
-Are you positively affecting younger generation?
-Are you the type that people will rejoice when you die?
-Are you making any difference?
-What is your stake in the church membership, giving, character and encouragement?
-Are you relaxing in the midst of battles?
-Relaxing in the midst of battles will only result in nothing positive, but complacency.

WHEN ONE IS RELAXING IN THE MIDST OF BATTLES
1. He will adopt Sidon syndrome.
2. He will assume the role of a coach.
3. He will assume the role of a spectator. He is only to watch what is going on.
4. Consciously or unconsciously he assumes and occupies the position of nominal’s, such a man is not committed to Jesus Christ.

WHEN JOSHUA WAS CHALLENGED THAT THERE WAS MORE LAND TO CONQUER
1.He caught a new vision. You should catch a new vision of what God wants you to do.
2.He renewed his mandate. What does God expect of you in this church?
3.He renewed his commitment. Joshua's commitment was spontaneous

- You too should be committed to Jesus and his cause.
- Be humble enough to learn regularly at His feet.
- Discover your talents and gifts and use them to bless the Church of God.
- Justify the investment of God upon your life.
- Invest your education, position, money and influence in the Lord's business through His church.
- Be positively and responsibly active in the church of Christ

Joshua impacted his generation positively, what legacy will you leave to the coming generation?

God bless you all.....
